Women’s health- minimally-invasive surgery
There is a 68.9% likelihood of having uterine fibroids in a woman’s life: 30% of the all the cases would show severe syndromes that might require surgical interventions, according to the worldwide statistics of BMC Public Health between 1990 and 2019. (The female age group of 16-45 is most prone to having uterine fibroids.) Of all the uterine fibroids, those weighing over 250g are perceived as large; according to National Health Research Institutes, fibroids longer than 8cm are advised not fit for minimally-invasive surgery. Besides, if patients have ovarian cysts or tumors, when they become larger, at some point, depending on individual doctors, open surgery will be, instead, advised.
But is that it?
Pros of da Vinci surgery:
-> Small incisions
-> Less bleeding
-> Less pain
-> Shorter hospitalization
Da Vinci surgery is a sought-after procedure we often get asked. With more than 550 such surgery performed to date, gynecological surgeon Dr. Wai-Hou Li’s record was to remove 5200gm uterine fibroid with 4-incisions robotic surgery , 4300gm by single port robotic surgery, and 3300gm by vNOTES robotic surgery, with or without hysterectomy. (Those weighing over 1,000g are considered “challenging”.)
At Cheng Hsin, we’ve received women patients from Southeast Asia, be it for the advanced techniques, unavailable in patients’ home countries or his virtuoso expertise he repeatedly demonstrates in the operating theater.
